Large Antique Chest Of Drawers C1870, Victorian, Mahogany, Bedroom, Makers Mark

Large Antique Chest Of Drawers C1870, Victorian, Mahogany, Bedroom, Makers Mark

A fine late Victorian flame mahogany chest of drawers by John Meynell of Northallerton, dating to circa 1870–1880.

A beautifully balanced two‑over‑three arrangement, crafted in rich, matched flame mahogany with a deep honey‑amber patina.

It retains its original theatrical-style Meynell trade label inside the drawer — a rare and desirable piece of Yorkshire cabinetmaking provenance. The chest features softly rounded Victorian corners, original turned mahogany knobs, clean escutcheons, smooth mahogany lined drawers, and stands confidently on its original inverted baluster bun feet.

Condition:

Excellent overall condition. The mahogany has been professionally cleaned and wax‑polished, the drawers run smoothly, and the frame is structurally sound. Minor, honest wear consistent with age enhances its authentic Victorian character.

Dimensions:

• 109.5cm width
• 117cm height
• 54cm depth
