A truly unique late 18th Century pine cupboard from the Basilica of Gandino, Northern Italy

This was purpose built for the vestry by hand in 1790 and was used to store the clergy’s ceremonial clothing up until it was sourced directly by us.

The twin pine doors open to reveal 7 full width drawers, 1 smaller drawer and a large storage area at the top. All the original handles and hardware remain.

This piece has been fully restored to its original condition, fully treated, hand waxed and polished.

It shows all the beautiful patina and wear of over 230 years functional use. Historic repairs in some areas further add to its appeal.

This stunning cupboard would make an excellent pantry or larder cupboard.

In one drawer we have saved some of the old lining newspaper dated 1853.

Gandino is a small mountain village in Northern Italy, approx 50 miles from Milan. The existence of the church is first recorded in 1181. It was rebuilt in 1421 and enlarged in 1469. It was transformed into its current form in 1623.

This piece has been designed and built so that it can be easily dismantled for ease of transport. Delivery cost in listing includes a two man delivery and the building of the item in your chosen location.
