Vintage Industrial Drapers/Textile Mill Table. 1930’s, Kitchen Island, Original
Vintage Industrial Pitch Pine Drapers Table (1930s–1940s)
A rare and characterful vintage industrial pine drapers table dating from the 1930s–1940s, originally used in a cotton mill. Built for the practical demands of textile work, it carries the honest wear, patina, and proportions that make these early workbenches so desirable today.
This table features its classic lift‑up top — a functional design used for inspecting lengths of fabric — paired with a lower slatted shelf that would have been used for storing bolts of cloth and tools. Every detail reflects its working heritage. Now this storage space could be used for kitchen utensils, pots and pans, or crockery.
Made from solid pitch pine throughout, the bench now sits on industrial castors, allowing it to be moved easily and providing the ideal kitchen island height. The timber shows decades of natural wear, giving it a warm, rustic industrial character. A new hardwood veneer top has been added and professionally coated in wax oil for everyday use.
This is a the beautiful blend of history and practicality. Whether used as a kitchen island, console table or in a creative/retail space, it would make a statement in any environment.
